What’s a Year?
A year? What’s a year? Actually, not quite a year…a mere 322 days…and yes, I’ve been counting.
Well, how about the release of Mac OS X last March, which was preceded by some intensive work to get the manuals ready for our software (see Stone Design’s website) if you want to know what I do “in real life”.
And then there was the summer full of various square dance events…and a certain loss of momentum…and it adds up to 322 days.
Last night, I called a tip at a dance (a not uncommon occurrence). What was different was that I called this tip at a local contra dance put on by FolkMADS to live music. What was the same was that I called a modern western tip rather than a traditional square. I taught two calls (Star Thru and Dive Thru) before I started, and used other calls that I know they know, and just free-wheeled for a while. It was fun, and I got a good response.
I actually have been working on this site…just not yet for public consumption. I’m going to move off of this Manila server and roll my own database driven site using MySql and PHP. I’ve got some of the databases working (under OS X it’s easy to run an Apache/MySql/PHP setup to check everything out before putting it up to the real world) and I’m working on the interface pages.
Today at our local callers association meeting (no URL, no web presence..something we should rectify), Bob Brundage said he occasionally checks the page to see if anything has changed. So I thought I might start posting here occasionally while I’m working on the “new improved” version.
So check back occasionally…there might be something new.
Ouchy Back
My back went out this morning, so I went to the web for ideas on relief and treatment. Even though there are many medical info sites out there, they all have essentially the same article. Sometimes the information is slightly rearranged, but the words are the same:
- WebMD/Lycos – Article – Back pain, low
- HealthCentral – General Encyclopedia – Back pain, low
- allHealth: Back pain, low
- Health @ FitnessHeaven.com : Medical Encyclopedia: Back pain, low
- WebMD Canada – Back pain, low
- HealthyWay – Library – Pediatrics Encyclopedia – Back pain, low
- WebMD – Back pain, low
- Yahoo! Health – Diseases and Conditions
- HealthCentral – Sexual Health Encyclopedia – Back pain, low
- drkoop.com: Conditions And Concerns: Medical Encyclopedia
Even Dr. Koop…same old article. Well, since virtually every site told me to “rest flat on the back for the first 24 hours and be very careful when moving around,” I think I’ll go lie around and watch the playoff football games.
