  1. I MISS him SO MUCH. He died a day before my birthday. I will always love and cherish him for as long as I live. He was so WONDERFUL.

  2. I should feel more guilty…I met him in ’84 or before…I don’t know whether I “saw” his death, but I know a powerful person who LOVED his personality/music/whatever…and I feel I haven’t prayed enough for him!–(“The prayer of a righteous man availeth much”…somewhere in the Bible…)

  3. i have to do an assignment on the death of john denver and im finding it really hard. i would just like to contribute this. he was a folk singer and therefore he had no friends. thats why no on has actually bothered to make a website that is any good about him or publish a book.

  4. Serena. If you are gonna research out an assignment, and attain the best results, please take time to do it properly.

John Denver was more than a ‘folk singer’. I suspect your comment that ‘he had no friends’ was inserted to provoke a response? Not from me. Mr. Denver had many thousands of friends – and from my research he had a close network of people around him in his personal life who adored him.
To suggest that no-one has made a website or written a book about him also suggests to me that you are either the worse for wear (drink/drug wise) or are immature. Do me a favour and do your research properly. Otherwise its pointless attending college/university……

  5. i just turned 17 a day after a concert and
the morning after, Clumbus Day 1997, my mother
woke me up from sleeping in on a school holiday
to tell me John Denver was gone. I felt that it
was too soon to be gone specilly when you just
met John Denver after a concert backstage i had
a pass to do that at PNC Bank Arts Center,
Holmdel, New Jersey on the night of July 31st
    that time.

  6. I too loved John Denver dearly and have never found better songs than Heart to Heart and Annie’s Song. Recently someone said that John could not shake his depression over his divorce from Annie and got up in his ultra light and headed out to sea, crashing it when it ran out of gas. I was shocked to hear that and wanted to read it in print. Has anyone else seen such a report and, if so, where?

  8. JD died a day before my birthday too, before I turned 33. It was so sad and I will always cherish what his music meant to me.

John, I know you’re up there with “Isabel”

  9. We miss you very much. A big empty space in our hearts. We love you and you will never be forgotten.

  10. I remember getting John Denver’s album ‘ Windsong ‘ from a library in the mid 1980’s – it blew me away. As John had released many albums by this time, I had lots to listen to. The guy was a singer/songwriting genius. And that voice……
His track ‘ What Are We Making Weapons For from his ‘One World’ album should have topped the charts, as should many other of his singles. But then if the radio doesn’t play your stuff anymore…. It is a tragedy that when you are out of fashion, dsespite the fact that you are producing music even better than when you had hits all over the world, the ‘majority ‘ are just not listening. Even so, John had a hardcore fanbase all over the world which loved and respected this great man and his music. His music continues to enrich my life. THANK YOU John Denver. In John’s words ~ ‘ Peace! ‘

  11. Just a thought ~ If any JD fans want to contact me – please do so!
And if ANYONE has his autobiography on three CD’s which are read by him – please let me know!
    Cheers For Now! David.

  12. I have alwayloved his music, I used to sing to his songs all the time, my daughter used to say i had a good voice so one night when camping in the Rocky Mountians i tried singing and playing my guitarin front of people,Rocky Mountian High, and went on to sing many more of John’s songs, people just sat and listened and joined in, I will forever be thankful for his music, it has put me on the road singing for a liveing ( a pretty good one too) Peace my friend, gone but not forgoten

  13. Sad, sad, 8-year anniversary day 🙁 “Where’s the ryme, where’s the reason?”
